Getting insurance for commercial vehicles is quite straightforward, although you might find there is more talking on the telephone to get a quote, than just trawling the internet.

There are also a number of weight limits, with insurance companies having cut off points at various vehicle tonnages, mostly at 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes. Third party fire and theft adds an additional level of cover, reimbursing you should your vehicle be stolen, or ignite. The best level of cover is comprehensive. This covers you against claims from the other person, but also allows you to claim no matter who’s fault it is.

Within each level there are a number of excesses, which help reduce the premium, but commit you to a financial commitment should the worst happen and you are to blame.

With commercial vehicle insurance there’s plenty of choice, albeit a little more patience might be needed to set it up.
